Description

1.    One thing is the human person, no matter the race,
religion, or denomination, needs God to be truly alive. No matter how we may
try to suppress it, there is something in us that constantly thirsts for the
presence of God. This inner search would make one long to hear God speak in
most life circumstances according to one’s religious affiliation. This informed the author to make the choice of WORD AND LIFE for the Main Title of this book.

2.    For
the Christian, God speaks to us in His Word – The Holy Bible. However, sometimes we
encounter the challenge of direction, enlightenment, interpretation, and
understanding of the Word. Various Christian denominations may have things like
daily Bible guides or readings which they follow. For
the Roman Catholic Church, there are weekly and Sunday readings of the year that they follow. This is where the author draws his reflections.

3.    As
a missionary who has tested many fruits of the mission, Fr Eze brings his massive experiences
to the appeal of his homilies, from allied cultures to military experience,
from varied languages to helpful insights from psychology,
philosophy, economics, anthropology, and so on. Students of Greek will find
pleasant adumbrations. Relevant anecdotes like the “true life story of the
old villager and the road down the stream”
among others will cheer the
heart and mind in between. Altogether, this work will no doubt, hold its place on
the bookshelves of pastors and all lovers of the Word of God. The depressed and
heavy-hearted will find consolation. Students of theology and Homiletics have
seen a new arrival. Those who are looking for contextual exegesis have found a
worthy guide. The lukewarm in the faith will be energized once again. Children
and youths will rise above their peers in practical knowledge of the Word of
God. Sinners will turn again in repentance. Catholic priests will discover an
instrumentum laboris instrument of work. Soldiers at fields of battle will
find a companion. Freethinkers will encounter a sure solace.
