This book describes faithfully many of the divergent experiences of the author as a Police barracks boy, before he became an adolescent. It discusses his birth and escape from having facial marks. the book also gives us an idea of how he "started" schooling at the age of four. That was the era when only children who were eight were admitted into primary schools. It was an hilarious experience when he (who was described as RAT, was admitted into Elementary Four. That was in a Class where some of the applicants had wives at home. It exposes him as a no nonsense boy in one rural grammar school. He later left the school for his father's barracks in Lagos. He really mixed up very well with his age mates there. Because of his good academic performance in entrance examinations, he was awarded the Nigerian Police Children scholarship. he attended OGSA. There he resisted being harassed by the bullies in the school.
